David Holland was born in Sandbach, Cheshire on November 09, 1921. He served in the Royal Air Force during World War 2, and was an aircraft electrician, working on Spitfires, Lancasters and Mosquitos. Upon leaving the RAF he worked at BICC Cables at Helsby, and when made redundant here, he became a manager of a Youth Training Scheme for vulnerable young adults.He was also a swimming coach in North Wales and Cheshire. Upon his retirement he was an active walker, as well as spending time with his four granddaughters, whom he made toys for, including a dolls house and a rocking horse.
